Our Program
Unhurried. Playful. Creative.

We offer high-quality, emergent programming that promotes independence and curiosity. Our small class size of 5 ensures a calm and nurturing environment for all children. We recognize that art, music, nature and play are essential to early childhood development. Our team consists of one Early Childhood Educator and one ECE Student. Both educators have ten years of experience providing care for children. Our staff ratio to child ratio is 2:5. We offer one plant-based and nut-free snack that follows Canada’s Food Guide recommendations.

We accept children ages 2-4 in our Preschool program.

We are not a licensed childcare program and only accept five children in each morning/afternoon program.

Our View of the Child
Capable. Competent. Unique.

At Gathering Wild, we strive to support your child’s individuality. We see the development of a positive self-image as the foundation for learning.
By trusting children to make their own choices and take risks, we are allowing them to trust themselves and further their sense of wonder.

Our Environment
Nurturing. Challenging. Inclusive.

In a trusting and supportive environment children gain the confidence to take risks, follow their interests, and problem solve. Our small class size of five, means a slower pace and a relaxed atmosphere. Our preschool setting , recognizes that learning happens when children are challenged and engaged. As children’s interests and abilities shift, the environment adapts to meet their needs which encourages further exploration.

Our Educators
Relationship Focused. Supportive. Experienced.

Tennyson is a Textile Artist who has worked as a Nanny for the last ten years. She has previously studied Social Work as well as Sculpture/Installation, and is currently working towards her ECE diploma at Humber College.

“Kylie was the RECE in my daughter’s kindergarten class for both JK and SK. She was amazing with all the children but my daughter really bonded with her. My daughter suffers from anxiety and at the time was undiagnosed. But Kylie handled her with the utmost care and compassion. I wish this program was in the city we live in so I could enroll my children.” – Jenn Kaustinen

“As our nanny, Tennyson has created an experiential learning environment in our home in order to foster our son’s safety, well-being, and positive development. She has ensured that our son had ample opportunities to develop and use his gross and fine motor skills, with a focus on unstructured outdoor exploration and play, as well as art and music-making. Tennyson encourages our son to gain independence, while teaching him self-regulation. We anticipate that our son will be very well-prepared, emotionally, physically and developmentally, for school and life!” – Alison Nielsen-Jones and Andrew Crawford
